If you are looking to consolidate all your t-shirts into one place, a t-shirt quilt is just the ticket. All you need to do is sort your favorite shirts and bring them to me. I stabilize all the shirts, cut them to size, sash them and assemble a beautiful quilt, bound and ready for gift giving. A good rule of thumb is to have 12 shirts for a throw, 24 to fit a double-bed, or 30 for a queen. Think of the great reaction when your college student receives a beautiful t-shirt quilt!
Along these same lines are memory quilts. I have made quilts out of baby clothes, men’s dress shirts, sports uniforms, and much more. Keep in mind if you try to mix several types of fabrics you don’t always get a nice finished product. (i.e. light weight t-shirts mixed with heavy sweatshirts or nylon jerseys).
